5.11.19 | LG COLLECTIVE + RUNWAYTRASH | LONG BEACH
I had the lovely opportunity to letter with new friends and help celebrate a birthday at this Beginners Brush Lettering Workshop! Thank you Lesley (Happy Birthday!), Patricia, Anna, Jesselle, Kelli, Neriah, Angie, Sarah, and Daniella for joining me and helping to provide meals! It was really wonderful getting to spend time with you and creating together—I hope our paths cross again in the future! It was also so awesome to help celebrate Lesley’s birthday (which was that actual day!) who came to the workshop with her mother, daughter, and sister–I thought that was so special to be able to have the whole family at this class! Thank you always to Lauree of LG Collective for hosting us at RunwayTrash!
5.19.19 | THE POTTING SHED | ORANGE
Thank you Cristina, Alondra, Kim, Joshell, Sarah, and Shillane for joining me for a Sunday funday Beginners Brush Lettering Workshop at The Potting Shed! I had a wonderful time getting to know you and really appreciate the opportunity to get to letter together. You all did a great job (so don’t be too hard on yourselves ;))—I know this is only the beginning of your lettering journey! Thank you always to Jack for hosting us in his gorgeous space at The Potting Shed!
5.27.19 | OH SHINY PAPER CO | SAN GABRIEL
Thank you Lisa, Anna, and Meagan for joining me this past weekend for a beginners brush lettering workshop at Oh Shiny Paper Co! One of the things I’m really glad we talked about during our time together was the idea of not feeling discouraged! I totally get it because I was actually discouraged before I even picked up a pen–I used to think that lettering was beautiful but too hard and not something I could do. The first time I did pick up a brush pen, it looked NOTHING like what I was seeing on Instagram and no matter what I did, it seemed like I couldn’t get the strokes right! But after discovering different brush pens, figuring how to hold the pen correctly, learning the basic strokes, and really dedicating time to practice, I started to see an improvement!
I’ve been lettering for almost 4 years now and I am so glad I didn’t throw in the towel! And I think it’s totally normal to get discouraged from time to time, but don’t let that stop you, no matter where you are on your lettering journey–keep going! Everyone has to start somewhere, everyone has to make that first shaky upstroke. Continue to practice and hone your craft, you will definitely see yourself grow and improve!
I had a wonderful time with you ladies and it made me so happy to hear some of you say you were feeling inspired at the end of the workshop! And thank you also for helping me provide meals for little ones at The EEC Preschool & Nursery.
