If you are a card recipient and the back of your card brought you here, you can learn more about Cards For A Cause by checking out the following pages for info on the Valentine’s Day Edition you and your loved ones are a part of: The Campaign and The Cards.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped to make the Cards For A Cause launch and first edition a success! It really was a collective group effort and a testament to what we can accomplish if we put our minds and hearts together.
It will make a huge difference in these children’s lives and they’d also like to tell you:
!!! This photo was taken on Sunday, 2/10/13. It has been very hot over there so the babies stayed inside while these little ones came out for a quick photo shoot to show you their smiles, some tummies, and their sign. =) (Please check out the crazy amount of cuteness in all of them, but especially the little girl in the blue tank top on the left and the little boy right in the center with the button down khaki shirt.)
It has really been amazing making cards and writing messages to your loved ones for you, amazing when I receive a donation from someone who wants to help– no cards involved, and amazing to hear such kind words of support and enthusiasm! I wanted this project to be about love, and it definitely is in each and every way possible!
And the most amazing thing of all is we were able to provide meals for The Ebongalethu Educare Center for OVER a year!!!
I am so excited to share with you the final results as of 2/11/13! (Donations have still been trickling in so as they come I will update.)
Valentine’s Day 2013 Cause: Providing meals for The Ebongalethu Educare Center Preschool & Nursery in Motherwell, South Africa.
We were able to provide: meals for 1 year and 94 days!!! February’s donation has been made and I will most likely make the remaining donations for 6 months at a time so it is easier for them to order and plan the deliveries. (There is a calendar to represent this at the end of this post!)
Number of donors: 107 generous folks that ranged from moms, husbands, wives, daughters, best friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, life partners, friends, and my favorite– kids! I would say my favorite card donor / recipient is one from a one year old to her one year old buddy =).
Number of cards sent: 301. They were sent all over the US and some even went overseas! Here is where all your cards went:
Here is a calendar of what 1 year and 102 days look like, and what days you represent!
Each box shows the number of the day in the year it is representing and each box lists the card sender’s name first followed by the recipients. The boxes are small so sometimes I had to pick one person (usually the person who filled out the form) to represent the family!
I know it is quite a massive calendar so to make it easier you can ask your recipient what card # they got and I will also be posting each month as they come. You can also email me or post a comment on facebook or twitter and I’d be happy to tell you where you are! The earlier you donated, the earlier your name will be on this calendar. There were a few glitches in December so you will see some numbers repeated, but that’s ok, they are still each representing it’s own day.
Also, there were many of you who gave me cash or checks to help avoid fees, donated extra, or had leftover from your donation so that was also calculated and many of you ended up donating even more than the number of cards you sent, so you may see your name repeated towards the end as well.
If you see a spelling error, please let me know and I will fix it! Also, if you are a card recipient and for some reason your card doesn’t have a number, please let me know so I can give that to you!

A very special and BIG thank you to Susan at Deep Dog Yoga (and Archna for making this happen, coordinating, and taking inventory!) and Lilly at Share & Do Good who helped to support Cards For A Cause in a huge way by letting me leave my cards at their shop. We also had a fun trunk show at Share & Do Good!
Many thank you’s to DailyCandy, who helped to spread the word and their readers for becoming new friends and helping to make sure a year’s worth of meals were secured!
